Nggak kerasa …that day is coming…the

back to MY country..although I’ve been
here for almost 12 years, home is always
sweeter..

satu persatu…for last two weeks I was
able to meet my friends…to say good
bye in person…and boy..that was hard…

it all started from two weeks ago..on
friday after jum’atan, I had lunch with
KJRI staff, terus malam minggunya
ketemuan Novi, Steve (Thanks Nov and
Steve)..and met with Ruthy, Didi, Andri,
Dede and Wawa in Palomino (one of my
favs spot in town)..On Sunday afternoon
I had "farewell golf" with Pak Konjen,
Bang Rizal, Om Hendra, Mbak Nur, Kang
Rusman, Terry (my old boss) and the
raising start - Vembri Woods
hehehe..vembri ini pak ustad yang gila
golf..waktunya sholat walaupun di
tengah2 lapangan golf, dia
sholat..boy..salute to him….

dan datanglah weekend minggu
ini…started from Friday night..with
Kresna..Runa..and off course san mateo
county buddies..then saturday morning
with Terry and Lonnie (brunch in
fistherman wharf)..saturday afternoon,
with ibu2 KJRI San Francisco (I went to
Wisma Indonesia to say goodbye)..and
malam minggu-nya salah satu malam yang
nggak akan terlupakan..

dimulai dengan nathan yang pura pura
ngajak gue nonton..tapi tumben..kok dia
ngepick jam 7-an malam aja..padahal
kalau nonton sama anak2 kan pasti
malam..but anyway..gue nurut aja..gue
siap2 dan terus langsung ke lobby
apartment sama dia..terus dia
bilang.."eh tos, gue photo copy dulu ya
di ruang resident manager dimana ruangan
tersebut di daerah lobby juga"…ya gue
ikut aja..gue ngikutin dia ke arah
ruangan resident manager..tahu tahu..a
lot of my friends sudah menunggu di
depan ruangannya resident
manager..dimana ada ruangan besar
semacam community room…

Terharu..speechless..you all got me
guys…nggak ngira sama sekali..and to
be honest…I cried
actually..sedih..senang..semua campur
jadi satu..nggak tahu mau bilang apa..
(thanks guys - Ronnie, Gan Gan, Nathan,

Disatu sisi rada "bete" kok kesehatan menurun..tapi disatu sisi yang lain…mungkin better to enjoy aja..kalau memang musti pakai kacamata…so be it…

Dallas Mavericks Head Coach, AVERY JOHNSON

March 9th, 2007 by mavsboi

He says:

       Bleeding green:
Avery Johnson forged a relationship with North Texas basketball coach
Johnny Jones when the Mavericks had training camp on campus in Denton.

When the Mean Green won the Sun Belt Conference tournament for an
automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament, it gave Johnson a wonderful
feeling.

"I was walking through it with him the whole
way," Johnson said of the conference tournament. "We were texting each
other and phone calls, and I was on top of his games.

"The training camp there, I had a chance to talk to his team before the
season, and I was excited about that. He seemed to think that had some
impact. So I’m excited for Johnny and the Mean Green."

Johnson said his allegiance is firmly behind North Texas now that his        alma mater didn’t make the tourney.

"Since Southern didn’t make it and they’re out of it, I may give him
some more tips," Johnson said. "We need to upset somebody in the first
round. I’m excited about North Texas."

LAFAYETTE, La. — Shootaround was over Tuesday morning and
the bus was waiting, but Calvin Watson wasn’t ready to leave the
court.    North Texas coach Johnny Jones wasn’t about to make him, and
even encouraged him to test his range.    "I was just playing with him to make him relax a little bit and
said, ‘back up, you can shoot it a little deeper than that,’ and he
was already behind the 3-point line," Jones said. "I love to see
hard work pay off for people and I think that’s what happened."    Watson hit six 3-pointers and scored 24 points to help North
Texas get to its first NCAA tournament since 1988 with an 83-75
victory over Arkansas State in the Sun Belt Conference tournament
championship on Tuesday night.    Watson, the Mean Green’s season and career leader in 3-pointers,
had lost his range lately, going 4-for-23 on 3-point attempts in
his previous four games.    He rediscovered it at the right time, hitting his first five
against the Indians and finishing 6-of-7.    "I put in the work, so I knew my shot would eventually go
down," Watson said. "My teammates … I looked them in the eyes
and I told them I was going to be ready for this game. I looked
coach in his eyes and I said, ‘Coach, I’m ready.’ So he called some
quick plays for me and I was able to knock down some shots.    "You get in a nice rhythm as a shooter and you never know what
might happen," Watson said. "You might go 6-for-7."    It made the difference for North Texas (23-10), which held only
slim leads most of the second half and missed 13 free throws.    "Everything they threw up went in. Give them credit for that,"
Arkansas State coach Dickey Nutt said. "They were more aggressive
than we were."    Isaac Wells led Arkansas State (18-15) with 21 points. However,
North Texas was able to disrupt Adrian Banks, who had 29 points in
the semifinals a night earlier but finished with 12 against the
Mean Green.    "They did play defense, I’ll give them credit on that, but we
didn’t execute our offense as well as we should have," Banks said.    Rich Young scored 15 points for North Texas, including a soaring
one-handed jam and an alley-oop dunk in the last six minutes.    He was one of the few reliable free throw shooters for the Mean
Green, going 7-of-8 from the line, 4-for-4 in the final minute.    Quincy Williams scored 12 for the Mean Green, while Ben Bell and
Keith Wooden each scored 11.    Shawn Morgan scored 14 for ASU and Ryan Wedel 11.    Arkansas State was as close as 72-70 after Wells’ 3-pointer with
3:05 left.    Young’s dunk followed, then Harold Stewart scored his only
basket of the game on a tip-in in a crowd and hit a free throw on
the Mean Green’s next possession to make it 77-70.    Wells scored again inside to make it 77-72, but that was as
close as the Indians got as North Texas scored the next six points,
all on foul shots, while ASU missed four straight field goal
attempts, three of them from 3-point range.    North Texas started fast. Wooden scored seven quick points and
the Mean Green connected on its first seven shots in taking an
early 16-8 lead.    The lead was short-lived, however, as Jim Jones‘ 3-pointer
ignited a 17-6 run that included Banks’ baseline fadeaway and
Wedel’s 3-pointer, giving ASU a 25-22 lead.    From there, it was a tight first half with nine lead changes,
the last when Young hit a pair of free throws to give North Texas a
37-36 lead at halftime.    The Mean Green rarely trailed in the second half and never
seemed rattled, even though they were well aware Arkansas State had
beaten them twice during the regular season and that they were
trying to secure the first tournament berth for North Texas in
nearly two decades.    It had also been a long time since Johnny Jones had cut down a
net in celebration of a tournament crown, not since the early ’80s
when he was a player and then an assistant coach under Dale Brown
at LSU.
"I’m excited our kids are going to be able to see something
that’s very special, something nobody will ever be able to take
away from them," Jones said. "They’ll be able to bring their kids
back years from now and be able to see that flag in the arena and
talk about that championship they were a part of."

From my Texas Hometown

December 15th, 2006 by mavsboi

Todd Dodge, one of the most winning coaches in Texas history, will become head football coach at UNT Dec. 26.

Dodge, 43, is widely respected as one of the nation’s most
successful high school football coaches for his winning record at
Carroll High School in nearby Southlake, Texas. During the five years
that Carroll has been designated a Texas Class 5A high school, Dodge
has won three state championships and compiled a 77-1 record.

Rick Villareal, athletics director, announced the appointment during an hour-long press conference Dec. 12.

“As a ball coach you have to believe in your heart that you’re at a
place where you can win, and I believe that North Texas can win. It has
a record of winning and I respect that and look forward to bringing
that back,” Dodge told members of the media as well as several Mean
Green players and fans who attended the event.

He also said that returning to UNT, where he served as offensive coordinator in the 1992 and 1993 seasons, felt right.

“I’ve been coaching for 21 years and the two years I spent at North
Texas were two of my favorite,” he says. “I am so excited and so
thankful to have this opportunity to return as head football coach. And
making this move is right for my family, too.”

Elizabeth, Dodge’s wife, is a UNT alum, his son, Riley, now a
junior on the Carroll football team, attended the lab school as a
three-year-old, and his daughter, Molly, was born in Denton.

Dodge talked with the football players and fans in attendance after
the press conference, which was emceed by ESPN’s Dave Barnett, a 1979
UNT alum, and also presented by UNT System Board of Regents chair Bobby
Ray, President Gretchen M. Bataille and Villareal.

Bataille says the university’s search for a new coach was diligent,
rigorous and included more than 100 candidates, but the important part
of the process was that it resulted in a new football coach who would
be committed to our student athletes.

Villareal says the search process began with the goal of finding a
coach with a proven consistent and winning record, a wealth of
experience that if possible included collegiate and head coach
experience, a commitment to be involved with the community and desire
to understand how to build a program in the community and had Texas
ties and ties to Texas high schools. The candidate also needed to show
a significant want to be at UNT.

Dodge’s contract, which was signed Dec. 12 and begins Dec. 26, runs
through August 2012 with a base salary beginning at $185,000 and
increasing to $230,869 in 2012. In addition, he will be compensated an
additional $75,000 each year for maintaining UNT’s NCAA certification,
NCAA Division I level and Sun Belt Conference Membership; completing
the season including any post-season NCAA-sanctioned bowl games; and
participating in all required radio appearances.

Additional incentives include those for:

• increased season ticket sales

• conference championships and post-season bowl games

• academic achievement of players

• win-loss record

• Top 25 ranking in the Associated Press Poll and ESPN/Coaches Poll

• Coach of the Year for the Sun Belt Conference and/or National Coach of the Year for the Division I Coaches Association.

What others are saying about Coach Todd Dodge:

Posted by: Kelley Reese

Bill Parcels, Dallas Cowboys head football coach

"From someone who has followed Todd’s accomplishments for the past
few years, I would say he is a coach who knows how to put together a
successful operation and compete at a high level for an extended period
of time. He has built a team and a philosophy that has staying power.
In my personal dealings with him, I was impressed with his knowledge of
the game, his dedication to the profession and his desire to succeed."

Mack Brown, University of Texas head football coach

"Todd is a credit to both the University of Texas and the high
school coaches in this state. He’s a great coach and an even better
person. A coach is a coach at any level, and Todd understands the role
of the coach. He’s had a lot of success and touched a lot of lives, and
he is going to continue to do that. It will be a great fit for him, and
North Texas is lucky to have him."

Gary Pinkel, University of Missouri head football coach

"This is a great hire for North Texas. Todd Dodge is obviously a
proven winner and a great motivator of young men. His offensive
knowledge and his development of young quarterbacks is as good as
anyone I’ve ever seen. I’m sure he will have great success and be a
tremendous asset to the university."
